A Substack community for neurodivergent and neurocurious adults who feel things deeply and are learning to trust themselves.
You are neurodivergent, and you have spent years apologising for how strongly you feel things. You say yes before you have checked in with yourself, then work out later why you are so tired.
I am Alice. I am an interpersonal psychotherapist and registered mental health nurse, and I was diagnosed with ADHD at 47 and as autistic at 50. I am also a parent carer to two autistic and ADHD children, and living alongside their sensory and emotional needs has taught me a great deal about my own.
This community began because so many of us were taught to override our needs. School rewarded us for sitting still and complying, and we grew an inner critic whose job was to keep us acceptable. Many of us carry that into our friendships, our workplaces and our bodies, where it can show up as exhaustion and gut trouble.
Here we dismantle shame and build self-compassion. We work with our brains and nervous systems, and we work out what our relationships look like when we stop masking. Nobody here is asked to become less autistic or less ADHD. There is a good amount of joy along the way.
What You Will Find Inside
Practical articles on relationships, the nervous system, people-pleasing and the inner critic, with steps you can use that week.
Daily Notes written as short stories from ordinary life.
Live community calls with recordings, including guest sessions and our Make and Write Along, where we write, paint, collage or knit together.
The archive, for the days you need something to reread.
Who It Is For
It is for autistic, ADHD and AuDHD adults, diagnosed or not, neurocurious or wondering. It is also for recovering people pleasers and for parents learning alongside their neurodivergent children.
